Our lawyers - Andrea Nicholls

 

Andrea qualified as a solicitor in 1995, having previously obtained a degree in Agriculture from Edinburgh University and worked as an agricultural lecturer and adviser both in the UK and Australia. 


She has expertise in commercial and property litigation, with a particular interest in disputes involving commercial and agricultural property.
Her recent cases include:

 

Defending the directors of a parent company against a large claim for the payment of unlawful dividends brought against them by the liquidator of one of the subsidiary companies in the group;

Acting in a claim for breach of contract to terminate a joint venture company which ran a major tourist attraction;

Successfully defending libel actions in relation to both on-line and printed media;

Obtaining possession by forfeiture of a farm, including house and buildings which had been let on a Farm Business Tenancy;

Defending a claim against an outgoing tenant for damages for failure to transfer single farm payment entitlements upon the termination of a long term Farm Business Tenancy;

Successfully opposing the forfeiture of a factory premises where it was alleged there had been a change in occupation; and

Acting for an individual whose assets had been subject to a freezing order and obtaining both the release of the assets and the resolution of the underlying dispute.

 

Andrea joined Greene & Greene in August 2013, following 6 years as a Self Employed Consultant Solicitor in London.  Prior to this time, she was a partner in a firm in the West Midlands.  She is a member of the Property Litigation Association and the Agricultural Law Association, of which she was Chairman in 2011-2013 and a Council Member from 1998 to 2013.
