Our Lawyers - Jonathan Mathers - Partner

Jonathan heads the firm's team of residential property lawyers that have built up a strong client base of individuals, land owners and developers, and a reputation for advice on agricultural and rural property matters, property development work, wills and estate planning and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Recent examples of instructions include:

Acquisition of a development site and its division into individual plots, preparation of legal packs for buyers and transfer of deeds incorporating all necessary rights and covenants;

The sale of land by a farming company client to the Secretary of State for Transport. This involved the drafting of a conditional contract and overage agreement and advising on technical Stamp Duty issues resulting from an uncompleted business sale agreement entered into in the early 1990s; and

A purchase by a foreign investor of a local stud for £2.9 million, which included residential properties and complex employment issues advised on in conjunction with our employment team.

Jonathan joined Greene & Greene in 2008 from Gotelee & Goldsmith, where he was a partner, managing the Hadleigh office. Well-known locally, having attracted a strong client base to his own Sudbury practice, Jonathan is an accomplished solicitor with a wide experience of property and private client work.

Jonathan trained with an Ipswich firm, qualifying in 1996, and then worked in London before returning to practice in Suffolk.
