About the firm
Greene & Greene was established in 1893 by a father and his son, both John Wollaston Greene, part of the Greene family who have included a Governor of the Bank of England, a Director General of the BBC and the author Graham Greene. The family is, of course, also known for its links with brewers Greene King plc.
Since 1937 the firm has been based in a large Queen Anne house in Guildhall Street, in the Suffolk town of Bury St Edmunds. Bury lies in the centre of East Anglia where a continuous increase in business activity since the 1960s has been reflected in the growth of the firm. This has been achieved through the careful recruitment of excellent lawyers and by satisfied clients recommending the firm to others. Our lawyers’ high level of professional expertise has been reflected in judicial and similar appointments.
Bury has good communication links across the region and with the rest of the country. Our offices are easy to reach from the A14, with no parking or traffic problems. Increasingly we act for clients from outside the region, who are attracted by the quality of our service and by value for money.
Both Bury and Greene & Greene continue to thrive today. Despite the recent global economic downturn, new jobs are being created in the town, and investment continues apace.
