Litigation & dispute resolution

The sheer diversity of the case load and the breadth of our client base reflects the reputation of our dispute resolution team.  A team skilled in providing practical advice to both commercial and private clients on how to achieve effective and swift solutions to disputes, avoiding substantial costs often associated with court proceedings.  This approach is never more appropriate than now at a time of recession when we see an increase in all types of disputes, particularly business disputes.

Recent examples of our work include:

Acting for a managing agent of various certified energy efficiency schemes and successfully defending a claim for a sum in excess of £500,000 by a contractor and subsequently that contractor’s liquidator.  Thorough preparation was instrumental in securing the agreed dismissal of this claim;

Representing various clients facing Public Inquiries before the Traffic Commissioner in respect of their Goods Vehicle Operator’s Licences and achieving successful outcomes that avoided the curtailment or indeed revocation of those Licenses;

Representing various clients being prosecuted by the Environment Agency in respect of offences contrary to the Water Resources Act 1991 and the Environmental Protection Act 1990; and

Securing damages of £400,000 for professional negligence against another firm of Solicitors.

“Acknowledged as the leading firm in Bury St Edmunds” by Chambers & Partners Legal Directory. “Greene & Greene are renowned for achieving solutions to disputes for its commercial clients”, as quoted by the Legal 500.
